His journey began with both challenges and love. After losing his mother, Madina Mirembe, at the age of three, he was first cared for by his grandmother, the late Minsa Nababi. Later, when his auntie Zaina Nsubuga visited from Entebbe, the young Ham — still just a baby — cried and begged to go with her. Fortunately, she accepted, and Entebbe became the place where he would be raised, nurtured, and inspired.

Ham’s upbringing was deeply shaped by the strength of his family. His auntie Zaina played the role of a mother, while his siblings — especially his sister Maria Namboira, who generously paid his school fees all the way from primary until he completed his studies — stood as pillars of support. Alongside Maria, his sisters Feristus Nalubega, Anita Nanyumba, Aisha Kigenyi, Fazira Nakamwa, and his brothers Gerald Mukwata, Charles Isabirye and nephews like Sansa Morris and Sharif Kamulegeya provided the foundation that allowed him to grow, learn, and dream.

His education took him through several schools in both Entebbe and Buwenge. At Gertrude Academy Primary School, he excelled in his Primary Leaving Exams, earning his way back to Entebbe. His secondary education was supported not only by his family but also by leaders such as the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, who partly contributed to his school fees. After completing high school, Ham pursued Multimedia Studies at Aptech Computer Education in Kampala, opening doors for him to work with organizations such as the Office of the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda and several creative companies across media, design, and marketing.

At just 17, Ham recorded his first songs but chose to pause his music career to focus on his studies. In 2025, he reignited his passion, stepping back into the industry with a powerful new sound. His singles The Rain, Vibe Controller, and Made Me Believe marked his return — music that blends Afrobeats, Afropop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, and Pop, echoing both his Ugandan roots and global influences.

Beyond his music, Ham Tezla is the Founder and Executive Director of Tez ChildFund Africa, an initiative dedicated to helping vulnerable children access education, healthcare, and opportunities for a better future. For Ham, music is not only about rhythm and melody but also about healing, empowerment, and lifting others through the same love and support he received from his family.

Singer.
